Friend linked me to this song by Rabbi Shergill. Read the background behind the lyrics, and the song will have a completely new meaning.
Lyrics:
Mera naam Bilqis Yakub Rasool
Mujhse hui bas ek hi bhool
Ki jab dhhundhhte thhe vo Ram ko
To maen khadi thhi, rah meinPehle ek ne puchha na mujhe kuchh pata thha
Dujey ko bhi mera yehi javab thha
Fir itno ne puchha ki mera ab saval hai kiJinhe naaz hai hind par vo kahan the
Jinhe naaz hai vo kahan hainMera naam Shriman Satyendra Dubey
Jo kehna thha vo keh chukey
Ab padhey hain rah mein
Dil mein liye ek goliBas itna kasoor ki hamne likha thaa
Vo sach jo har kisi ki zuban thaa
Par sach yahan ho jatey hain zehreelayJinhe naaz hai hind par vo kahan the
Jinhe naaz hai vo kahan hainMujhe kehte hain anna Manjunath
Maine dekhi bhatakti ek laash
Zamir ki beech sarhak Lakhimpur KherhiAdarsh phasa jahan naaron mein
Aur chor bharey darbaron mein
Vahan maut akhlaq ki hai ik khabar baasiJinhe naaz hai hind par vo kahan the
Jinhe naaz hai vo kahan hainMazha nau aahe Navleen Kumar
Unnees june unnees bar
Unnees unnees unnees unnees
Unnees baarUnnees unnees unnees unnees
Unnees unnees unnees unnees
Unnees unnees unnees unnees
Unnees baarLooto dehaat kholo bazaar
Nallasopara aur Virar
Chheeno zameen hamse humhe
Bhejo pataalJinhe naaz hai hind par vo kahan the
Jinhe naaz hai vo kahan hain
Translation can be found here. The background behind the lyrics can be found here and here . Read this to know more about Bilqis, Satyendra Dubey, Manjunath and Navleen Kumar.
Sigh! Stuff like this happens all the time, where there is a blatant crime, and the following investigations span through the complications of legalities, time, corruption and then they eventually lose focus. This song is a complete mockery of ‘Truth, Pride and Integrity’ Indians are proud of.
Sigh!
If you thought GodTower is fun but insanely difficult, you might want to give Klueless a try. Klueless is an online scavenger hunt, presented by IIM Indore and is a yearly event.
Some of the questions are catered to the Indian Audience, but nevertheless it’s awesome fun. As compared to Godtower, the solutions are a hell-lot easier and solvable.
Make sure you read the rules, before starting.
- KLUELESS 1 – This started it all. Some of the puzzles were brilliant!
- KLUELESS 2
- KLUELESS 3
- KLUELESS 4 – I didn’t like this
- KLUELESS 5 – Stuck on level 11 at the moment
WARNING: Once you start down this path, it’s difficult to stop. You must inform everyone you know that you will be MIA for a couple of days.
Happy Kluelessing
And this is how it is done. All comments saying that Paul Potts’ version is better than this, shalt be instantly deleted.
The expression at the finale “Vincero!” is worth a million words. This is probably the most emotional performace I’ve ever seen. This is why he is The Pavarotti.
A very very emotional TED Talk by the Malwaian kid who turned to science to solve his village’s problems during the drought year. An important lesson to learn – Don’t give up on your dreams. He had never seen an aeroplane or slept in a hotel
The first talk shows how overwhelmed he is by the media, glamour, publicity, lighting and everything. He is tongue tied and nervous. He sums it up in his second talk
“That day my English lost. I wanted to vomit.”
His first TED appearance.
When he returned to TED again.
If you are reading this blog, I’d like to say:
Be thankful to God for all the opportunities you’ve had in life. Don’t give up on dreams, and never say you can’t do it.
Cheers
It’s that time of the month when I overhaul my desktop. I was in the mood for editing the Mac theme, and wanted to try something new. Been getting quite bored by just Geek-tooling my desktop.
I was inspired by ~rissol from deviantart. This guy is the dude as far as Mac Theme-ing goes! So I looked up theme-ing the Mac. Thought I’d give Magnifique (a Mac theme-ing app) a try. Sadly, there is a pretty scary warning on the Magnifique website which reads.
WARNING: DO NOT use Magnifique on OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. It’s almost certain that it will mess up your system beyond repair. We are planning a complete rewrite of Magnifique once Snow Leopard is released. Thanks for everyone’s support
Needless to say, I was quite bleh-ed out after reading that. So thought “Oh well, might as well do something!“. Low and behold.

What amused me the most was placing the VLC icon. I couldn’t help but stop grinning looking at that VLC Slalom Pole Cone Icon nested at the Gingerbreadman’s feet. Bwahaha!
I know, the desktop looks very ordinary, but come-on, not bad for 5 mins of effort. And the cone looks awesome! It really does!! … Oh well
I promise my next one will be awesome
Enjoy
UPDATE: For those of you who are unable to use the ‘Quote of the day’ script, please scroll through the comments where I have linked the original article. The code gets messed up when one copy pastes into/from WP to Geektool. Dunno why. The fonts are also linked in the comments section . Also, feel free to check out the desktops from July-November for other Geektool inspirations here. I personally prefer Newspaper desktop from October
Two contrasting examples comparing sizes of various objects in the universe. The first one is a stack up of a coffee bean to a carbon atom and the second one is comparing earth to VY Canis Majoris (the largest star known to man).
I especially like the second video. Makes me feel so insignificant.
Funny part is that VY Canis Majoris is made up solely out of Hydrogen & Helium Atoms
